I’m Ilya Subach, a DevOps engineer. I got laid off and started looking for work for the first time in about two years, and it was much harder than I remembered. The generic prep I found didn’t look much like the interviews I was actually sitting in.

So I built a tool for myself. I needed a way to keep my applications straight and a way to prepare for each company specifically, because every team tests for different things and values different things — preparing for “DevOps interviews” in general turned out to mean preparing for none of them in particular. In 2026 that tool became prepme.io.

It’s the same thing now, just for everyone. You paste a job description and get a briefing for that specific role: hands-on Kubernetes and Terraform labs that run in real containers, a graded architecture design round, coding challenges tailored to the job description, and a mock interview built on your own resume. Every one of them — the labs, the design round, the coding challenges, the interview — is graded 0–100, because reading about a topic and holding up under questioning are different skills.

If you look for jobs on LinkedIn, a Chrome extension adds a “Prep this job” button directly on the posting, so the prep starts from the job you’re already reading.

Generating and reading a briefing is free — paste a job description and see the full plan. Practicing costs $7 to unlock one briefing, or $20 a month. I’d rather you see exactly what the prep looks like before any of your money is involved.

I run prepme.io alone. The labs, the grading, and the interview guides on the site are built and maintained by me. That comes with an honest trade-off: things ship at the speed of one person, but nothing here was produced by a content team that has never sat in a DevOps interview.
