What we collect

When you sign in with Google, we store your email address, name, and avatar URL so we can attach your briefings and lab progress to your account. We never receive or store your provider password.

When you generate a briefing, the job-description text you paste, the resulting briefing, your lab terminal transcripts, your design diagrams, your coding solutions, and your assessment scores are stored so you can return to them.

If you upload a resume, we store it and what we build from it. For a .docx, .txt, or pasted resume we keep the text as you supplied it; for a PDF we keep the file name and the structured profile we read out of it — your employers, titles, dates, and bullet points — not the file itself. We also store what you generate from that resume: application kits (match score, gap analysis, cover letter), job-tuned CVs, your mock-interview questions, and the answers you write in the mock interview.

Third parties

Generated text is produced by the Anthropic Claude API. The content you give us is sent to Anthropic for processing, subject to their terms: your job descriptions, lab terminal transcripts, design diagrams, coding solutions, and — if you use the resume features — your resume and the answers you write in the mock interview. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it to train models.

The site runs on Amazon Web Services in the EU (Milan). Briefings, lab transcripts and assessments are also copied to AWS S3 as a backup. Resumes and everything derived from them live only in the application database, and are not included in that backup.

We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate site traffic — referrers, geography, and which pages are used. This measurement is aggregate-only: it is not linked to your prepme.io account and is not used for advertising.

Cookies

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in. Google Analytics sets its own cookies (such as _ga) to measure traffic in aggregate. We set no other third-party cookies and show no ads.

Browser extension

Our optional Chrome extension (“prepme.io — Prep this job”) reads the text of the job posting on the page you are actively viewing, and only when you click to prep it — it never reads pages in the background or sends anything automatically. On a LinkedIn job page it reads the open job’s description, title, and company name; on other job sites it reads the description from the tab you invoke it on.

That job-description text is sent to the same free briefing endpoint the website uses, and the resulting briefing opens on prepme.io (see “Third parties” above — it is processed by the Anthropic Claude API). The list of jobs you have prepped, and their status, is stored locally in your browser (chrome.storage.local) so the extension can show an “already prepped” state; this list never leaves your device. The extension requests access only to prepme.io and linkedin.com, sells no data, and shows no ads. Remove it anytime from chrome://extensions.

Retention & deletion

Briefings are automatically deleted 6 months after they are created. You can delete a briefing sooner from its page — immediately, or on a 1-week / 1-month schedule after marking it as applied.

Your resume is different: it is not on a timer, and it stays until you remove it. Use Remove in the resume card on your dashboard at any time. Removing it also deletes everything built from it in the same step — your application kits, job-tuned CVs, mock-interview questions, and your mock-interview answers.
